Tips for Better Search Results
First Name - First name is not required but
the more info you enter the better your results. Enter complete legal first
name. (i.e. David could be Dave, Robert could be Bob, but you can enter partial
names such as Dav if you not sure how to spell entire name). For best results
enter as many letters as you are sure of.
Middle Name - Middle name is not required
but if the first and last names are common using a middle initial or full
middle name can narrow down the list of results. The more info you enter the
better your results.
Last Name - Last name is not required but
the more info you enter the better your results. You may enter partial names if
you are unsure of spelling. If you only know last name, enter completely with
one other field below otherwise you might be too many names on your report.
Father's Last Name - Father's last name is
not required but the more info you enter the better your results. You may enter
partial names if you are unsure of spelling. If subject's name is common
entering father's last name can help reduce false positives.
Mother's Maiden Name - Mother's Maiden name
is not required but the more info you enter the better your results. You may
enter partial names if you are unsure of spelling. If subject's name is common
entering Mother's maiden name can help identify the records you're seeking.
SSN - Entering your subjects Social Security
Number is the surest way to locate the exact information you're looking for. If
you enter the full SSN and the records are not located then you can be sure
that SSN is not listed in the California SSDI Death Record Index Files.
Birth Date - If you do not enter the SSN,
entering a DOB (Date of Birth) will significantly help narrow down the results
for common names.
Death Date - If you do not enter the SSN,
entering a DOD (Date of Death) will significantly help narrow down the results
for common names.
Death County - If you do not enter the SSN,
selecting the county will significantly help narrow down the results for common
names. You do not need to know the county of death to request this search.
